| The split
key comes in two halves, each half with different
coding. The lock can only be operated once both keys
are inserted into the lock simultaneously. DOM solves
the problem of having to purchase two locks for a
particular door to restrict entry.
The following
scenario will explain the convenience of this system:
The 'Confidential Document Achive Room' (CDAR)
could be a place which the Managing Director will
be able to access on his own. The Sales Director
and Financial Director can only access the CDAR
if they are together.
Ordinarily, two locks
would be fitted to the door of the CDAR, the Managing
Director will have keys to both locks, while the
Sales Director and Financial Director will each
have a key to only one lock.
DOM provides
a far more efficient solution:
This is an ideal situation to use the DOM
split key. Only one lock is needed for this door.
The Managing Director is issued with only one key
which he needs in order to operate the lock. The
Sales Director and the Financial Director are each
issued with one half of the split key, enabling
them access only when both keys are present.
